Tangier Island

You have a couple of different ways that you can visit Tangier Island. You can travel by either boat or airplane. There are ferryies that travel across the Chesapeake Bay to the Island during the summer months. Or you can catch the mail boat the runs a limited schedule in the winter. If you have access to a airplane you can take the scenic filght.

Chesapeake Breeze leaves Reedville, Va on it's daily run to Tangier Island. You can catch the ferry from May thru October. The ferry leaves Reedville at 10:00 and arrives on Tangier at 11:30. You have a 2 1/2 hour visit before departing at 2:00.

Steven Thomas makes it's daily run from Chrisfield Maryland May through October. It leaves the mainland at 12:30 and arrives to Tangier at 1:45. After a 2 hour visit on the Island you depart for home at 4:00. For more information call 1(800)-863-2338

Tangier Island has it own airport. Altough it is not the biggest runway in the country it can handle most small aircraft. Please call ahead for reservations. (757) 891-2496
